10th February - The Bootleg Sixties at the Theatre Royal St.Helens

On Wednesday 10th February, Let yourself be taken on an unforgettable journey with the songs, stars and images of pop music’s greatest decade.
Starting at 7:30pm. This fully self contained two hour plus show is packed with great music from all the classic artists of the decade, and is back dropped by fantastic visual footage, including archive material from each town and city hosting the show. Add in some guest appearances, some fab 60’s costumes and, of course, The Overtures’ own inimitable performance, and you’ve got a show which is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

13th February - Valentines Masquerade Love Ball at Club Rouge

On Saturday 13th February, Club Rouge (on the site where Nexus club used to be), in Westfield street, will be holding a Valentines Masquerade Love Ball. Flown in from the USA is Robin S performing her massive tracks Show me Love and Luv 4 Luv, plus many more. With dj’s Denny Dowd (juice fm) and resident dj's Mike lewis and Colin Roberts.
Doors open at 10:00pm with the clubopen until 3:30am on Valentines day. Tickets are £10.
20th February - Farmers Market and Ploughing day at Fir Tree Farm

Fir Tree Farm, in Pimbo Road (just after the Colliers Arms in Kings Moss, will be holding it’s next Farmers Market on Saturday 20th February. The market opens at 9.30am - 1.00pm and takes place on the third Saturday of every month. This month's market will coincide with the Annual Ploughing Day, which includes demonstrations of ploughing techniques, vintage tractors and horse displays.
Produce at the Farmers market includes local corn fed free-range chicken, organic meats from local producers Forsters Organic Meats, homemade pies, pasties and cakes from Shirley’s Homemade, sumptuous handmade chocolates from The Cocoa Emporium, world-famous potted shrimp from Southport Seafoods, Shorrock’s Lancashire Cheeses, exotic and exquisitely bottled dips and marinades from Adesso Marinades, as well as speciality pickles made from locally sourced ingredients and produced by Parkers Preserves.
Refreshments will also be available in Fir Tree Farms "Seasons Cafe".

St. Helens College - Test The Town
St. Helens College, with partners from other organisations in St. Helens, are running the Test the Town initiative. Test the town has an online Maths and english quiz, with a chance to take part in a free prize draw. Their aim is to improve the maths and English skills of everyone living and working in St. Helens, to help us gain a new job, promotion, access a course or just to keep up with our kids schoolwork.

Featured Article - Carr Mill
On a sunny day, there is nothing more relaxing than a stroll around Carr Mill Dam. Walk or cycle around Carr Mill Dam and watch the birdlife, or just admire the views over billinge and the surrounding countryside.
Carr Mill is an excellent venue for walkers, cyclists, joggers, anglers or photographers
The Lancashire Powerboat Racing Club have their clubhouse on Carr Mill Dam and hold a series of powerboat racing events throughout the year.
Photographers will find excellent scenes to photograph and on race days will be able to photograph the powerboats.
The St. Helens Angling Association also use Carr Mill Dam and hold regular match fishing competitions there.
The dam is at one end of the Sankey Valley country park, so a full day out could be enjoyed combining a visit to both and enjoying a rest for a meal break at the Waterside pub, the Ship inn near the Sankey Valley Ranger station, or the Carr Mill boathous cafe on a race day.
